As a consultant, Heidi has more than twenty five years experience in project management, strategic planning and leadership development, specifically helping organizations enhance communication, increase efficiency and embrace continuous improvement.
As an adjunct faculty member of ESI International /George Washington University for the past 16 years, Heidi has presented more than 450 management seminars throughout North America and Europe. In all sessions, Heidi emphasizes evaluating, customizing, and implementing project management solutions to meet each organization's needs. Heidi's natural ability to convey complex ideas clearly and simply empowers participants to put PM tools and techniques to work right away. Seminar participants consistently cite her depth of knowledge, outstanding communication skills, and infectious enthusiasm. As a consultant, Ms. Spinella spent over a decade as a PM for industries as varied as health care, telecommunications, education, state agencies, manufacturing, insurance, engineering and financial services primarily involved with business process re-engineering and automation projects.

Heidi’s client list includes Commonwealth Medicine, General Electric Corporation, Harvard Community Health Plan, Hewlett Packard Corporation, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, New England Medical Center, , Northeastern University, Raytheon Corporation, UMass Medical School, Unisys Corporation, the State of New York and World Bank among others. Process improvement projects include the automation of the State of NY Appeals System, a transportation subsidy system, several real estate transaction systems, multiple sales tracking systems, a Meditech implementation, restaurant chain automation and the design of the F14 aircraft engine. Heidi authored and presents the Massachusetts Commonwealth Medicine and UMass Medical School's Project Management Certification program. Hundreds of participants as well as the institutions have benefited by incorporating project management best practices, tools and techniques into their projects. Heidi has been an avid environmentalist for over thirty years and has gained experience in a myriad of environmental initiatives including the largest Acid Rain monitoring project in the nation, establishing Newburyport's first Earth Day Celebration which grew to a 10 day event in 2009, to being a founding member of the Greater Newburyport Eco Collaborative - a collaboration of the City, The Chamber of Commerce & Industry and local Environmental groups. Heidi sees Sustainable Business Management as a way to move towards a prosperous, sustainable future by integrating environmental and social stewardship with economic management best practices. Ms. Spinella authors the PMI Global Sustainability Community of Practice monthly Sustainability Q&A blog. In her free time Heidi enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, and traveling the world with her family. Ms. Spinella is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) by the Project Management Institute (PMI®)and is a Natural Step Associate. She holds a M.S. in Environmental Science Education and a B.S. in Nutrition. |
